Broccoli contains sulforaphane which is a compound that prevents an enzyme that destroys cartilage from overproducing. Sulforaphane is known for its anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties, it can also be found in brusell sprouts, cabbage, and cauliflower. However, broccoli contains the highest percentage of sulforaphane, particularly the sprouts.

Sulforaphane is also crucial in DNA methylation, a process that is important in gene expression and aiding cells in remembering who they are. Somethings that is quite beneficial to cancer patients. DNA methylation also suppresses expression from things you don’t want, such a viral and other disease related genes. The best part is that you don’t have to over consume, for those that are not to found of broccoli.
